Fuka Interior Decoration Sdn Bhd, a renowned design team led by Design Director Lim Swee Chong, has masterfully crafted an environment that encapsulates the essence of Chinese culture in their design of Ben Ran. This Chinese restaurant, located in the luxury Vangohh Eminent Hotel in Penang, Malaysia, is a testament to the team's ability to weave cultural and artistic elements into a harmonious dining ambiance.

The design inspiration for Ben Ran was drawn from the convergence of Chinese cultural and artistic elements. The designers sought to create a space that would allow guests to immerse themselves in a truly traditional art decor atmosphere. To achieve this, they incorporated a lot of ancient materials into the restaurant's design, thereby retaining the unique Oriental artistic value.

The realization of this design involved building a Suzhou style dry landscape yard, quietly integrated into the oriental interior. The designers brought new vitality to waste materials through reuse and classification. Custom-made cloud lanterns, cement wall render, solid wood, and the art of calligraphy were applied throughout the space, emphasizing the spirit of China. The use of old stone and dead wood further accentuated the culture of Chinese style.

Ben Ran's design is not only visually appealing but also functional. The restaurant features five VIP rooms designed for private family dining. Three linked VIP rooms can transform into a private function room when the screen door is opened, accommodating at least 40 people. This clever use of space showcases the design team's innovative approach to maximizing functionality without compromising aesthetics.

The design process was not without challenges. Coordinating a team of designers and operators to ensure everything worked like clockwork was a significant hurdle. The cloud chandelier on the ceiling, designed by the team and developed by the manufacturer, is a testament to their ability to overcome technical challenges.

Ben Ran's design has been recognized for its excellence, winning the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, and Ben Ran certainly fits the bill.
